Knight, terrorism is no doubt inhuman, but there are things that need more attention. For example the crisis of global warming(threatens entire human race), poverty(mostly resulting from injustice).
I feel sorry for the little boy( first picture). He surely is misguided.

I agree that there are many other issues facing the Human race as a whole. Unfortunately, the attacks on September 11th showed the United States that they cannot ignore fanatics bent on destorying the west, they will not simply go away. But you are right, there are many things,famine,genocide,disease, all of which plague the world.
I would like to see the US become able to divert its resources to these issues instead of terrorism, but US people don’t want to allow another 9/11. I wish the true muslims could flush these people out and expose them for who they are, and try to stop the spread of their teachings.

The boy with the bombs….he is cute alright but his action isn’t. If I were his parents I would not be proud at all. Truely he has been misguided and I pited him for being one.
Clinton Administration is far better than that of Bush. USA had enjoyed several good years of economy under Clinton Administration.
No comment for North Korea. Had heard about the nuclear thing but has not read much about the country.
September 11….the act was inhuman and a terrible crime beyond description.
Looking at the situation in Iraq now is worst than before when Sadam was in power….not wise at all for US to intervene….many innocent lives had perished.

Was 9/11 the beginning of WAR? or was this war has been going on before aswell????
I know u concern as an American about ur defence, but why dont u see What US is doing to Muslims all over the world? attacking their territories killing thousand and thousands of innocent muslims, is it a less important thing than 9/11???

I don’t think 9/11 was the begining of the “war” but it was the point at which the US got fed up with radical people trying to murder civilians.

Thank you for responding. I can see why you think the US is there for oil. I can assure you that is not why. If we “secured Iraq for oil”, then why are oil prices here in the US through the roof??? If nothing else it has hurt our economy, not helped it.

Your last point is the most disturbing point. Yeah it takes some serious devotion to a cause to blow yourself up, you could say a fanatical devotion.
I think your biggest mistake is saying that they blow themselves up to defend their country. They are blowing themselves up in the name of Allah, which seems to be a contradiction. Once again, it brings up this concept of “Takfir”. The doctrine of Takfir should scare the hell out of you. It basically allows a Muslim “holy warrior” the right to indiscriminately choose who is a “true” Muslim and who is an infidel. From that decision they can carry out their “justice”.
Further more, US military service men and women, do not fight for wealth. They volunteer and fight to defend their country, surely you can appreciate that.
In response to your question, “Can I do it?” The better question is, “would I do it?” And the answer is no. I would rather march onto a battlefield alone in uniform carrying the flag of my country and fight with honor and dignity. To blow yourself up is not glorious, there is no honor in it, and to blow yourself up amongst civilians is evil pure and simple.
During the Crusades, there was a small army of Islamic soldiers who had lost a huge chunk of their forces to battle. They were surrounded by the western knights, and do you know what they did? All 150 of them, grabbed a flag, dressed in their armor, and marched against the 6000 strong, Christian army. Of course, they did not win the battle, but I think actions like that win the war. Terrorism will only continue to give Islam a bad name. You must find other ways to fight, or this war will continue indefinitely.

Knight, it was shown on tv in the news, US soldiers guarding the place of oil in Iraq tightly showing that US has full control of the place. Indeed the oil is being drained out of Iraq to US as payments of the military service rendered in Iraq….so it was widely said by those people who fled the country.
There are so much tensions in the Gulf. US should not interfere with middle-east affairs. Its presence here is not helping but making the situation worst. Only individual like Sadam able to control country like Iraq. He knows his people well than US.
US is not invited to settle problems in Iraq and its service there is not being soughted….so it was widely said by middle-eastern people.
Clearly US has its hidden agenda in attacking Iraq….just like killing 3 birds with a stone. First it is able to control oil in Iraq. Second it succeeded in killing Sadam. Third to create greater conflicts in the middle-east….so that more Muslims will kill each other and the ending is to see more Muslims dead and vanish on this face of the earth.
Right now the Bush Administration is all smiling seeing Revenge accomplished, Oil controlled, Muslims fighting and killing each other in greater volume than before. This is how dirty politic is. It is about Revenge, Power and Greed. Bush was not satisfied with the defeat of the Gulf War in 1990 which US under Sr Bush Administration claimed to be a victory. So when Jr Bush in power, it is an opportunity to invade Iraq again…
For the people in US it was a mistake to vote Bush Administration. The efforts and tax money spend on attacking Iraq should go to the efforts in tackling poverty issue helping the homeless in US, not to turn another country into a state of poverty making its citizens homeless!
Or could it be one of the Bush Administration ways in tackling Poverty Issue in US by force draining the oil in Iraq into US turning the country into a state of poverty in order to make another country poverty free….just like what Robin Hood was doing, taking from the rich to give it to the poor?….This is stealing! Stealing is Stealing there is nothing good in it!
Or could the wealth from the oil is for Bush Administration personal use? This could be the reason for the hyke in oil price other than the forces of demand and supply? The Bush is all smiling always merrying around in the US while his army wounded and killed during the operations. The Bush has nothing to loose because it is the citizen of US that is on the loosing end.
War is not a good choice. Sure enough the US leaders are well verse with it. Attacking middle-eastern countries should be stopped. US should leave middle-east and not to create more tensions in this region if US, as you said did not mean to harm the middle-eastern people but to help. US should stop aiding Israel in oppressing the Palestinians. They are made homeless due to the migration of zionist into the country.
Palestinians homes are being snatched to make ways for zionist. This is stealing! All these are shown on tv in the news everyday…real footage of what is happening in Israel…children, women being pointed with rifles at gunpoint on the face…..this is inhuman ….where is the human rights? The Palestinians have the right to live a normal life without fear. Are the Human Rights people doing their work properly or there is a double standard as most of the Palestinians are Muslims?

I don’t see how this helps the US. Nothing good is coming from the war in Iraq, at least as far as the US is concerned. The only good things coming out of this conflict are the hundereds of schools and utility facilities that are being built for the Iraqi’s, out of the US pocketbook!
Listen, the whole point of this blog is to show the justification for attacking Iraq. Things have changed now. You have to remember back to 2002 and what was going on at the time. According to US, and international intelligence, Iraq, under Sadam’s regime, posed a threat.
Now that the US is there, we want to make sure the country will be able to care for itself when we leave. So far the Iraqi’s have been flat out lazy. They want us to leave, but they don’t want to do the work that is required to secure the country! Personally, I say we have a big vote in Iraq, and if they want us to leave, then we will up and go. Screw them. I would be perfectly happy to get the great men and women who are there risking their ass to make sure they are safe!
As far as the whole Israel thing goes, I don’t know what to tell you. The last peace attempt I remember is when Israel forced a bunch of its own citizens out of their homes and gave the territory to the Palestinians. Only to have the Palestinians use the newly aquired territory to fire rockets into Israel.
It comes back to the “give them an inch, and they will take a mile” princible.

Knight, I think the media in your country has been potraying a good image on US invasion in Iraq, making the US citizens happy on what US government is trying to do in helping Iraq….building hundereds of schools and utility facilities that are being built for the Iraqi’s, out of the US pocketbook!
The fact is….this is far from truth. There is no such developments and mind you, Iraq is paying through the oil and gas drained by the US for free. There is no logic in your arguement because how can US construct schools and utilities when everyday there are bombing everywhere. Surely it is not safe for any construction to go on. What we know the construction was only at the site where the oil and gas were,(areas of US interest) which is heavily guarded by the US army. We are living in the middle east and we know what is really going on here.
About Israel…again the media in your country always prejudice towards the Palestinians favouring Israel and giving onesided story. About firing rockets into Israel….again the media in your country reported not even half of the full situation. Firing rockets by the Palestinians is an act of retaliation from the Israeli attacks. Do you know that everyday there are innocent life of the Palestinian children and women killed by attacks from Israeli and very sure this is not being reported in your media.
Have an open mind and listen to other media coverage. Do not let your mind be controlled by the media in your country alone. The media in your country always ceasored alot of things that is going on here and only shows which is beneficial to them and US government so as to get credits and support from the people. The media in your country did not report the actual events that took place in Israel but bits and pieces to depict a different scenario. You should come to the Middle East and see the whole scenario yourself, Knight.
You know what, my perceptions on what is going on around the world changed alot after living in the Middle East because the media in my country did not report the full details of what is going on around the world especially in the Middle east. Most Medias only report what they want the readers/viewers to believe. It really brings much satisfactions when one knows the truth and understand the situations by not be on any sides to avoid blaming innocent parties but to stay neutral to find the whole true picture of the whole situation.

I understand that you can’t listen to everything the media tells you. But the US has a free press system. If one organization trys to bend the truth, its competitiors would be umong the first to point out the falseness of the argument.
I would love to visit the Middle East, and in fact, I plan to sometime soon.
I just have to ask you were you get your infromation from? Because what is to say the media in the middle east is any more accurate then the media here. The media here portrays the Iraq war in a negative light. War updates usually consist of two things, how many US soilders died, and how many civilains died… That does not seem very positive to me.
I am from Oregon by the way. Good old northwest.

Knight, the News Channels here are very wide however I often switch on to BBC,CNN and Al-Jazeera. There are wide variety of Newspapers from many countries on the shelves but I always pick The Peninsula, Gulf Times and Qatar Tribune. There are 70% expatriates of different nationality coming from different backgrounds and of different religion living in the place I am residing now. They came from all over the world. We normally interact casually among ourselves exchanging views of our home countries and cultures.

As for my thoughts on the pictures shown: Until parents teach their children that blowing yourself up for Islam is a bad idea, the children will continue to grow with hatred.
Those who defend the religion of Islam need to step up and denounce the actions of the terrorists who claim that they are acting in the name of Allah. Some claim that Islam is not about suicide bombing of innocent people, yet they do not stand up and protest these actions.
By sitting quietly while others act out in the name of Islam, they are silently condoning the actions.
As to the picture of the attack on the WTC ~ I will never forget!

The argument,or discussion,between Knight and Shaheen is one that has raged for decades,and unfortunately will continue to do so for decades to come.
I am from Ireland,where we have had our very publically documented years of “war”.I live in the south,so I do not have first hand experience of the atrocities commited by all involved.Some people use Religion as an excuse for their “wars”,but it has gone beyond Religion at this stage.
It is out of pure hatred that these people continue to kill and maim each other.For so long it has been the norm for Protestants to hate Catholics,Muslims to hate Jews,westerners to hate and distrust anyone of a differnt faith to their own.
No man,woman or child has the right to take a human life in the name of God,Allah,the prophet Mohammed,or any of the numerous deities that we as Human beings claim to believe in.
Saddam Hussein,George Bush,Osama bin Laden,Gerry adams,the English Monarchy are all guilty in their own way of misleading their people with warmongering and propaganda,and possibly thousands of other powerful people.Please people,get over it,and love one another??
